Best Cookware For Healthy Cooking
I continue my crusade for the future and sustainability by suggesting some useful tips on the safe use of chemicals and #plantbased food! We all know that our health starts in the kitchen, but before you begin your cooking journey, don’t forget to check what material your cookware is made of. To start with, just a friendly reminder of who’s the winner among the cooking tools:
1. THE BEST COOKWARE is made of CAST IRON WITH PORCELAIN/GLASS COAT, STAINLESS STEEL, or those with TITANIUM ENAMEL (Staub, Le Creuset, etc.)
2. SAY NO TO TEFLON. Throw out old, scratched, and non-stick cookware made of Teflon, and/or aluminum cookware coated with Teflon. Because this material contains perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are potent carcinogens. When heated, Teflon releases toxic fumes, that is, nonbiodegradable, ‘forever chemicals.’ Speaking about aluminum-coated cooking utensils, the latest study on Alzheimer’s’ disease (AD) confirms previous findings linking exposure to aluminum with neurological disorders because this chemical is found in the brain tissue of patients who have familial AD.
